Matrix suffers some bad breaks!

So not only has this been the worst winter southern california has seen in years with all the rain, but when it rains it pours! As I posted in the last entry our own Bailey had broken her thumb. Well, last week we suffered two more broken bones, when Tayler broke her foot, and Stevi broke a toe. Both breaks were very minor and both girls are expected to be back on their feet relatively quickly. Some good news though, Bailey has gotten her cast off and is cleared to play! She was at hitting on Thursday and showed that she never missed a beat! She was swinging and hitting like a champ!

the three injured!

Due to the bad weather Matrix has been missing out on sufficient practice. Combined with limited field availability we have definitely been put through the wringer! I think the girls heads are high though and they all seem to be doing what we ask of them on late notice. In an attempt to teach the girls competitiveness we came up with some interesting drills to see what they had in them. Below is a video clip of one of the drills we had them do. No worries, no one was hurt during the filming of this video!

We are scheduled to play in the USSSA tournament in San Pedro in the month of March, will be in Palm Springs for Triple Crown in April and then its off to Vegas for a tournament the month of May! We look forward to the continued success of the girls!

As a last note, we have two military families on the team and are sad to see our two guys go. Both will be deployed within the next couple weeks and we'd like to say thank you for your service to our country and we all look forward to your safe and speedy return!

Our first major injury!

Bad News Matrix fans! Our own little Bailey Dean has fractured her thumb! She broke it during practice on Tuesday while attempting a left-handed one handed bunt. Good news though she is only out for 3 weeks and is sporting the coolest cast ever made!

We wish her a speedy recovery so she can get back out on that field!

Fundraisers, Friendlies, and four more!

I would like to start off by welcoming our four newest players to the team. We have added
Ashley Bevan of Lake Elsinore,

Chauni Green of Murrieta

Alysia Rodriguez of Lake Elsinore, and
Korynn VanSchaik of Temecula!

These girls came out during our open tryouts and were selected to join the Matrix family based on their skills and dedication to the game. We look forward to seeing them grow and become a big part of our program!

I am happy to announce that our Applebee's fundraiser was a huge success! The girls did a great job helping all of our supporters and we were given so many compliments on them! A BIG thank you to all of the parents who came out to help and a special thanks to Breanna Dean who put the whole thing together! Thank you to everyone who came out to support Matrix softball we really appreciate your contribution to our team!

We played in the Riverside Rookies friendly January 30th. The girls did a great job in their first 14-under friendly. We played Diamonds, Dynasty, and Magic. As in our very first friendly as a team we won 1 game and lost 2. It was a great day full of great defense and was a great way to start. The girls will be playing again this Saturday February 6 at the Minor's Gold friendly.

Matrix moves up to 14 Under in the 2010!

We are proud to announce that Matrix has moved up to the 14-under level. As we move up the team is building on its already successful roster by adding a few new players. We are conducting open tryouts through Tuesday January 19 at Temecula Elementary School from 5:30-7:30pm. We look forward to seeing what the girls can do!

There is a mandatory player and parent meeting following Tuesday's practice. At this meeting we will be completing our roster and signing team contracts.

Matrix will be participating in the Bomb Squad friendly on January 23rd and our Apple Bee's fundraiser is on Sunday the 24th. The girls will be out at Apple Bee's in Temecula from 8-10am serving breakfast. Only $10 all you can eat. Hope to see you out there!

Welcome!

Welcome to the official Matrix softball blog!

Matrix is a 14-under softball team based out of the Murrieta area. Our team is made up of girls from the surrounding areas. We have a very talented core group of girls and are very excited about moving up to the 14-under level.
